Everyday more and more people realize the importance of exercise in their lives. But what’s even more important is the proper exercise attire. Having comfortable exercise clothing is a must, having the right exercise shoes for running or training is a necessity. The reason why is because it affects overall performance, health and injury prevention. As someone who has experience in fitness coaching, I would always tell my clients to invest in a good pair of training shoes. Some of them would assure me that the training shoes they have (that they would wear for years!) are just as great as new ones. In that case, I would ask them if they change their car tiers as often as they need to? The answer would always be: -"Yes!". Of course, because that would mean safety. If you have an old set of tires, the best case scenario is they would pop one day on the freeway (that happened to me by the way). Worse case? Accidents, injuries and so on. But think of wearing an old pair of running shoes for years without replacing them?
Shock absorbency and cushion of the shoes wears out, foot pain increases and injuries are inevitable. Let’s look into more benefits of new running/training shoes:
1. Foot arch support
2. Stress reduction on arches, feet and toes
3. Lower back, hip and knee pain prevention
4. Injury prevention
5. Cushion for the joints
The key factor is to replace your running/training shoes as often as 6-12 months. Best place to buy running/training shoes would be specialty stores. Where trained staff can find you the right size, arch support and the right shoes for a particular type of sport you need. Some stores might offer those services online. Just make sure you do your research and take care of your health. Because health is not only important but it's worth investing in.
