How important is detoxing from social media nowadays? Do I need a social media (SM) detox? Do those questions ever pop-up in your head? They do in my. That's why I decided to do a SM detox and here was my outcome… I’ve been detoxing for over a week and it felt truly great. Here are the reasons why: I’ve been on “my game” from procrastination, dived more into my self-improvement and spent more time outdoors.
Here are my best tips for Social Media Detox:
1. realize you need it
2. start your morning with doing things, like brushing your teeth and preparing breakfast, instead of reaching for your phone
3. use your phone and computer only for work and essential things
4. whenever you have a break spend time outdoors, do a light stretch or socialize in person with people close by
5. read a book or start a new hobby (like taking a course on meditation or self improvement) and make that your relaxation time before bed
6. plug in your phone to charge and resist reaching for it before bedtime (simple as that). This particular bad habit often makes us spend hours on social media and can affect sleep quality.
Trying the SM (social media) detox is easy and might be very beneficial to your overall productivity. Even if you will eventually go back to your social media (for work or for fun) it might help you to be more creative and mindful of your valuable time.
