As a younger version of myself I didn’t know too much about face care products or anything about self care. The main reason to it is not enough knowledge about facial products and its benefits. While I was growing up, my mother always had a perfect skin and she barely used any make up or moisturizers, so I had zero knowledge on this topic. When I was going trough puberty stage I had facial acne, allergies and an oily skin issues. Those issues could’ve been avoidable, in my opinion, with a proper face care routine. So throughout the last decade I’ve been studying and researching best ways to treat my acne and improving my face care routine. Here are some of my best advices:
1. Make sure you don’t use harsh face care products that contain alcohol (ethanol etc.) as it does more damage to your skin than help it. Yes, alcohol has disinfectant properties but also dries the skin which can lead to dehydration and loss of elasticity.
2. Use more natural face care products. That step will require you to read all the labels and the content of the jars & tubes.
3. Keep a daily facial care routine. Important step for a healthy skin is to keep a routine. For example, washing your face with face foam in the morning followed by toner and applying a moisturizer after.
(Using SPF creams 15 minutes before stepping out of the home has always been an important step in my routine as I live in sunny California.) Removing all the traces of make-up with liquid remover (or make-up removing wipes) and apply a night cream before going to bed. Those are just basic steps of the daily routine.
4. Make sure you get a cosmetologist treatments at least once every two months (acne prone skin can benefit more from ones a month treatments). It might sound as an investment but so worth the money because cosmetologists/estheticians are professionals that knows how to properly extract and care for different types of skin. Also, they can recommend the best face care routine for your skin type.
5. Nutrition, nutrition, nutrition! Can say enough on this topic because what we eat can benefit or damage our skin health. Oily, greasy, sweets and overconsumption of spicy food can have visible effects on skin appearance.
Here are the benefits of face care:
1. Daily face routine helps improve the elasticity and hydrate the skin.
2. Hydrated skin can appeal younger and can help a person to save a lot down the line on expensive or invasive skin care treatments. Please note, genetic factor and nutrition can play a big role for some people’s skin appearance.
3. Removing all the traces of make up from the skin before bed can help prevent pore clogging and future acne.
4. Facial stimulation like massage, electro facial stimulation can improve the blood flow to the face and cause younger appearance. If practiced daily, person can see the improvement in facial skin elasticity.
Hope you will find these regiment and benefits helpful and can incorporate it into your daily face care.
